Trained specialist staff operate this Specialist Psychosexual Service:

What is Psychosexual Therapy?

The service aims to help clients with sexual and relationship difficulties. Trained specialists will work with you to look at the problems you are having. These may be physical, psychological or a mixture of the two. There will be no physical examinations or the prescribing of medication. If this is required there may be a need to contact your GP.

At first the therapist will assess your specific needs. They will want to hear about your problems as to why you are accessing this service. They will explore with you some of your feelings and emotions about them.

At the end of this discussion, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, a plan for your future therapy will be discussed with you.

This may involve further appointments with this service, a referral to another specialist or back to your referrer. If you decide to continue to attend this service, you will be advised of the options open to you.

Is the Service Confidential?

The consultations given by this service are strictly confidential. Your notes will be kept private and secure. They are not available to anyone else unless you give specific consent to do so. We will be writing to whoever referred you to us, to keep them informed of your progress. If you are worried about the information that we may include in these letters, please discuss this with us.

As with all Health Care Professionals we are obliged to break confidentiality if concerns regarding the risk of serious harm to you or others arise. If this were to be the case, we would always discuss this with you first.

Will this service be right for you?

If you are comfortable with the idea of exploring your difficulties in a safe, private and confidential setting and you are happy to be guided through this process by a trained specialist, then this service may be right for you.

Where is the Service?

You can access this service at any time. But it is best to first either click this link to make an appointment or telephone the number given to discuss the next step.

(Other times are available at the discretion of the service)

What happens if I can not keep my appointment?

If you are unable to keep an agreed appointment, please telephone the service on (01582) 511034, with as much notice as possible. This will enable us to offer your appointment to someone on our waiting list. You will then be offered an alternative appointment.

We look forward in you contacting the service to arrange a meeting between the Therapist and yourself!
